Dale Kvasnicka built his custom teardrop trailer in 2018 entirely from the ground up — metal work and all — inside his Kansas garage.

Dale writes: “My design had a lot to do with trying to make the seams disappear and be part of the design. I came up with the design inspired by the look of a wingtip shoe cause let’s face it, they just look sharp. With the size of my build there is really no way around having seams. I have always loved the rivet lines on airplanes and even used to build wings for the 400A jet.”

The entire trailer is dedicated to sleeping and storage, with a full-sized bed for Dale and his wife, and a small bunk across the front door his son. “It’s all camper and no galley because I wanted all the cabin space I could get and I am a die-hard charcoal guy so I’m cooking away from the camper anyway”

The inside of the trailer is decked out with vintage knickknacks and memorabilia. “We wanted the interior to look kinda like a whiskey barrel. I repurposed as many old windows and lights as possible to help with the vintage design. We like antiques, old signs, and nic nacs, every thing is fastened down so it wont move in transit, but it feels like home to us”

That gave Dale the opportunity to fill it with a ton of personal touches, including a fold down shelf under the window repurposed from an old vintage skateboard: “It’s my mom’s old skateboard from the 60’s,” Dale writes. That’s something I can definitely appreciate as a maker of reproduction vintage skateboards, and a son of a cool mom from the 60s.
